Also designed by William Krisel, this restored midcentury modern built by the Alexander Construction Co. in 1959 has vaulted tongue and groove ceilings and porcelain tile floors, and is furnished with classic designers from Warren Platner, George Nelson and the Eames, as well as vintage midcentury abstract paintings.

Kitchen cabinets extend to the vaulted ceiling. A subtle patterned 3d tile on the main cooking wall extends to the ceiling as well. The hall beyond the kitchen is lined with high gloss white cabinets that provide additional storage, pantry space and a hidden coffee and toaster bar.

Open shower with vaulted wood ceiling borrows light from the bedroom beyond. Plants above a hidden linen closet help absorb humidity from the shower. Sloped bathroom floor to a linear drain allows the entire bathroom to be washed down.

The Campbell Residence, also known as the Cain Wong Residence (as it is currently owned by Aaron Cain and Annie Wong) features vaulted cedar ceilings, Douglas fir beams, and an exposed concrete structural system. Large, custom-milled windows overlook the connecting patios and let in forest views.

A vaulted roof over the center of the home caps a showstopping kitchen. “Instead of everyone gravitating to the hearth,” says Freyinger, “the center of the house is the focus of attention. Everything—the airflow, the people—converges there.” The white-washed OSB millwork is by MasonHaus, and the appliances are from Miele.

The master bathroom features a vaulted ceiling in stained douglas fir, a freestanding walnut cabinet that doubles as a privacy divider for the toilet, a limestone counter that integrates with the tall cabinet, a limestone floor, and a steam shower.

The vaulted white ceilings are punctured by thin strips of light that brighten the interior. From the kitchen, which includes an oversized island, are floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors that bolster the seamless indoor-outdoor living.

The kitchen and dining room expanded upward as well as outward. Sistering new rafters to the roof trusses allowed the bottom chord to be removed and the ceiling vaulted.

Hardwood floors complement the wood-paneled, vaulted ceilings. A full-height brick fireplace sits on the far end of the upstairs room.
