The glass-walled home, built for a family of five, is lifted off the ground in an old eucalyptus grove.

Quartersawn oak built-ins throughout the house were fabricated by Toronto cabinetmaker Built Work Design.

Furniture designer Tom Deacon teamed up with pal and architect Andrew Jones to renovate his Toronto townhouse. “Architects tend to think of the building first, the interiors second, and last, the furniture. Our approach was the opposite,” Jones says.

Throughout the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath residence, large picture windows and geometric skylights let in sunlight and blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor.

“The interior of the residence introduces finish selections that express visual contrast, human scale, and refined materials,” says the listing agent.
