Wood on the ceiling and slate on the floor carries through to the veranda, forging another layer of dialogue between the indoors and outdoors.

Blouin and Dupont kept the river rock surrounding the fireplace despite its loud texture "because the smoothness, or overall materiality of the house, gives a sense of balance to the living room," says Blouin.

Celebrating the natural landscape was important to the client. The dining room, which as a table crafted from the same white oak used for the cabinetry, amplifies the connection through the new glass curtain walls.

In this exquisite, classically styled black and white kitchen, gleaming white marble countertops and cabinets are juxtaposed by a dramatic, gold-trimmed black oven and range hood. Two Bestlite Pendants from Gobi enhance the gold details throughout this kitchen, a favorite among black and white kitchens.

The structure appears to hover above the ground, imposing minimal intrusion on the landscape. The gap between the structure and the ground provides space for additional ventilation.

At night, with the interior lights in use, the mirrored glass becomes transparent, exposing the interior to the outside.

The mirrored walls reflect views of the interior and exterior ad infinitum.

The freestanding tub provides views of the forested land.

Walker Warner Architects utilized the entire site to give this home the feeling of a compound rather than a stand-alone building. Deep overhangs elongate the home’s horizontal shape, while asymmetrical window and door arrangements establish a visual rhythm underneath the unifying roof.

A key feature in SAAD’s Strata House is the serene Japanese bath.

The Bentleyville Residence’s bathroom features large windows and folding doors that provide expansive views of the surrounding woodland.

A built-in fire pit and sunken lounge seating offer a comfortable area to sit fireside. The built-in furniture references the interior design, creating a harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces.

In the downstairs living area, the walls sweep upwards toward skylights that protrude out and above the flora of the green roof. Next to the viewing area is a conversation pit accompanied by a hanging fireplace. A hole-punched, curving wooden panel separates the dining room.
