A pair of floating nightstands in the master bedroom are by Børge Mogensen; the sconces are by Kurt Versen and came with the house. The panel of fabric over the oak Matera bed from Design Within Reach is Incantation, by Lustig— the piece was originally used as a curtain.

The bed is by Floyd, and an Alvar Aalto stool that Joshua scored for $100 at a Barneys closing sale functions as a nightstand.

Joshua shared a video of his closet in action on TikTok in December that has amassed more than 410,000 views. He admits that the closet "isn’t the easiest to use, but it’s the most practical" for his tiny room.

Petillaut designed a large closet on the other side of the partition wall, which also acts as a headboard for the bed, in one of the master bedrooms.

A built-in banquette with a custom table designed by Engelsman saves space. The bench has a cushion made by Caroline and the chairs are Vintage J.L. Moller Model #75 Dining Chairs. A partial wall now separates the adjacent den and TV room, to balance connection and separation.

The modest home is clad in Weathertex panels made from 97% eucalyptus woodchips and 3% paraffin. The cladding is finished with a charcoal-colored stain to enhance street appeal and avoid any unsightly weathering.

The sunken bathtub in George Nakashima’s Sanso Villa mimics the shape of a swimming pool on the grounds. His daughter, Mira Nakashima, took over the studio after his death and now lives and works on the property. “A Japanese garden often has a central pond derived from the character for ‘heart’ or ‘spirit,’ and this may be an abstraction of that character,” she says of the tub’s sculptural form.

The tub sold the downstairs tenants on the unit.
