Believe it or not, this bathroom—which was a major draw due to its size—was fully carpeted when the couple moved in. For the lower-level den, “Sean wanted something that felt really cozy,” says Alves. She and Echeverry covered the walls with Portola’s deep-green Timberline limewash and installed a built-in sofa to enclose a retreat from the rest of the open-plan house. The palette mixes earth tones with splashes of color, as seen in the kitchen’s custom, handmade cobalt-blue pendants. The hue was inspired by the vessel in the corner by Toronto ceramist Tamara “Solem” Alissa.
