The steel beam that supports the new addition on the second floor is supported by a new wall that was finished in Venetian plaster; its different layers evoke a ruin, almost art-like in its texture and tonality.

Curved ceilings mimic the curve of the exterior roofline. Colorful finishes in each of the kids’ rooms capture the playful spirit of the family.
The kids' bathroom features polka-dot wallpaper all the way up the walls and onto the ceiling.
In addition to the red façade, floor and ceiling, a rich forest green (Green Smoke#E160, by CIN) was combined with a warm, mustard-yellow accent color (Yellow Mustard#E714 by CIN) in the annex bedrooms.
Stones excavated during the foundation dig were redistributed to level out the yard while simultaneously creating a drainage curtain around the leach field.
"Some people want a manicured garden, but I'm of a different mindset," says Patnaik. She left the grounds untamed and organic. "If we're building in the wild, I want to live in the wild."

“We absolutely love designing small spaces,” says Thorsteinsson. “It’s one of our favorite things.”
One of the couple’s favorite new details is the built-in, L-shaped bookcase in the den.

“I knew I was going to use it as an art studio so I didn't want anything precious,” says Amber. “It just feels like a great creative space to think and make art.”
Built-in wood shelving under the television has an opening for the plant pot.
In the primary bath, new tile from Ceramica Vogue Interni and custom cabinetry by Dolan Construction is topped with terrazo-inspired counters from Concrete Collaborative.
For the bathroom inside a renovated Hollywood bungalow, architect Noah Walker used a simple palette of gray and white tile, black countertops, and stainless steel fixtures. "I love minimal bathrooms with natural light, so less is more, and pay attention to the details," he advises.
New cement tile from Mosaic del Sur, Hansgrohe fixtures, a shower plate from Bette, and Farrow & Ball’s Chappell Green paint round out the room.
