An Ellison Studio sofa, recovered in Dedar Patchwork Fabric, fits the whole family for movie nights. The coffee table is from Etsy and the rug is Nordic Knots. "Around the time we were thinking of moving back [to San Francisco], I took a trip to Marfa, Texas, and fell in love with the agelessness of Donald Judd’s work," says Amy. "I liked the idea of having a classic American reference to the space, since we are influenced as much from America as we are by Asian culture."

The pendant lamp above the dining space combines Western industrial touches with an Asian wink at paper lanterns. It was the basis of the renovation's design.

The owners have been collecting art for years and the architects ensured there was plenty of display space after the remodel. “We know artists, we've worked with artists, and we value artists,” says the owner, noting that they’ve bought a lot of pieces at non-profit art auctions and in the local area.
