Master Bathroom

An expansive picture window ushers ample natural light and fresh air into the master bath.

The original bathroom vanity is in excellent condition, with formica countertops and lots of storage. A built-in weight scale is another eccentric period feature of this home.

In the bathroom, plain white tiles line the walls and ceiling. The floors are natural stone and the fixtures are by VOLA. Lassen built the sink himself.

The cabin's single bathroom is located adjacent to the master bedroom and is covered in ocher-colored tile. A fenced-in outdoor bathing area is accessible via a sliding glass door.

Carrera marble tiles in four different scales can be found throughout the home—including in the bathroom, the kitchen and sunken lounge, and the backsplash.

Whitney placed storage baskets and tins on the bathroom's open shelves to avoid visual clutter. A found branch functions as a towel rack beside the shower.

Open timber shelves in the bathrooms offer additional surface space. Brass fixtures add warmth and texture to the minimal palette.

Custom brass plant shelves and custom tile adorns the master bathroom.

“The screening and this outdoor area off the en suite allowed them a garden at roof level—the green wall was the clients’ idea!” says Litera. “It creates a beautiful buffer between the real world and their sanctuary.”

To create a more open entrance in the master bathroom, the existing shower was removed and replaced with a custom vanity made out of reclaimed wood and industrial steel legs. The mirror above was also framed in reclaimed wood. The shower was relocated and tiled in a neutral glass mosaic blend to bring more light into the interior.

The bespoke bath rail in the master suite incorporates concealed plumbing, LED lighting, and functions as a shelf and towel rail.

The downstairs bathroom was also dramatically redone for a total of $18,121.

The marbled countertops in the ground-floor bathroom are by Smile Plastics, a company that melts and reuses discarded milk bottles and chopping boards.

The wall of backsplash tile behind the sinks emphasizes the ceiling height.

The bathrooms are outfitted with grey tile that features a stone-like appearance that references the outdoors.
