SHED replaced the drafty windows with tall sliding glass doors to connect to the deck. The Acre Lounge Chairs and Turn Tall Side Table are both by Blu Dot.
SHED rebuilt the deck to have only two support posts, and an integrated planter faced with COR-TEN steel to tie into the front facade.
The entry hallway doubles as a library, filled with books related to Chris's vocational life. A kitchenette with a two-burner stovetop and small refrigerator offers a place to prepare simple meals.
An outdoor shower provides a place to wash off sand after summer trips to the beach.
Homeowners Toni and Graeme sit on the patio with their dog Bokkie. An exterior conversation pit is the most popular spot in the house. A gas grill and pizza oven are built into the back brick wall. The countertop to the left of the wood storage nook is made with leathered Zimbabwean Granite.
“The studio is designed to give you vistas and sight lines across the whole garden,” Andrew says.
The adjacent bathroom was plastered to maintain the minimalist palette, and provide soothing contrast with the wood detailing everywhere else.
Now, there’s a built-in vanity with the same oiled white oak storage at the entry to the main suite.
The new kitchen is outfitted with white oak cabinetry by Ramon Padilla, Trias counter stools and a La Cornue oven and range.

Terracotta tile flooring in the kitchen is juxtaposed with Douglas fir flooring in the dining area. A skylight facilitates the inflow of natural light for the spaces.
