A custom built walnut bathroom console sits adjacent to a standalone soaking tub in the master bathroom.

Graphic pattered tile is used throughout the house in small doses, to add a touch of whimsy to more classic black and white elements.

Designers and homeowners Kele Dobrinski and Christina Valencia renovated this striking Sacramento residence. The original fireplace in the living room is their pup Murphy's favorite spot to keep warm. Kele's great grandmother's chairs were reupholstered in blue velvet for an added pop of color against the freshly painted white walls.

In the bathroom, glazing around the American Standard tub lets in light, though outer walls are positioned safely around it for complete privacy. “You literally feel like you are showering outdoors,” Hall says. “It’s really a serene experience.” The faucets are by Moen, and the sink and medicine cabinet are by Ikea.

The bathroom includes a walk-in tub.

This bathroom, tiled in bright blue mosaic to offset the home’s limited materials and color palette, calls for a simple vanity. The sinks, toilets, and tubs are by Villeroy & Boch, while the faucets and towel rails are by Grohe and Avenir, respectively.

The custom sectional banquette, and the kitchen and bathroom millwork was designed by Jessica and fabricated by Fire on the Mesa, a design workshop in Joshua Tree.

The banquette has extra storage underneath it.

In the corner of the kitchen a custom banquette is complete with underneath storage.

In the gravel-lined entry court shaded by a Japanese maple tree, furniture from Beall and Bell—an antique shop in Greenport, New York—mixes with Pendant Globes by Primelite Manufacturing. Bobo pillows by Adler outfit the banquette, and cedar clads the interior of the seating area.

The room extends into the main living area, illuminated by energy-saving LED lighting. At right is the “popout” bay window, filled with banquette seating.
