The bedroom wing steps out to the pool. Cor-Ten steel encases the doors and windows, and forms the custom cantilevered canopies.

In the bathroom, the architects mounted a Kohler sink on a sloped, custom-slate countertop. Since the stone doesn’t hold up well in water, the architect switched to black mosaic tile in the shower. The faucets are from Cabano’s Century series.

A family chose MyCabin to construct prefab structures in their home country of Latvia. The prefab structures have space for work, sleep, and relaxation.

The exterior is clad in corrugated, galvanized metal. “We just spray it off with a water house,” says Mark.

Set on a ridge overlooking a deep ravine, this summer home in Southern Iceland is surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery.

The rear courtyard appears to float over the site. On the right is a large screened porch with three walls of retractable insect screens from Phantom Screens, which make it easy to use the space whether it's bug season or not.

This temporary accommodation for traveling professors tilts toward the water like the bow of a boat.

Designed by Phoenix-based ASUL—which stands for adaptable system for universal living—and CSCP Consult in Savannah, Georgia, this is not a full-fledged home but rather an accessory dwelling unit, known as an ADU. Its 16-foot by 20-foot interior is cozy and practical, inspired by the midcentury main house adjacent to the building, which is used as an office, library, and study. The ADU rests on 6-foot stilts to comply with FEMA flood zone requirements.

Along the front of the home, tiered landscape sections are bordered by panels of COR-TEN steel, with a central walkway and staircase leading up to the main entrance. The glassy front facade provides multiple vantage points for enjoying views of the active neighborhood.
