The marble in here matches the marble in the kitchen.

This painting was just intended to be a placeholder in the mock up, but the homeowners loved it so much they commissioned an identical one.

The arched doorways throughout the home are all new additions that the couple chose to feel akin to a Spanish-style hacienda.

The kitchen has Ikea cabinets with Colonial Bronze hardware that “elevates” them, topped with honed Carrara marble counters. Holly is familiar with using a high-low mix for clients. The stools are by PNW maker Phloem Studios and the ceiling lights were sourced from OneFortyThree.

The sculptural, Escher-like stair is crafted from plywood, which features a lapped detail for ease of installation. Existing structural elements—such as the columns—were exposed to reveal what the architects call "the mechanics of the renovation".

A cantilevered staircase with tread and railings composed of translucent steel mesh now connects the second and third floors.

The terracotta floors and wooden drawers in the bathroom all tie to nature, and mix well with the desert views peeking through the window.

Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the primary suite with warm natural light.

Custom white oak cabinets compose the kitchen. They’re topped with Calacatta Bella Honed Marble. Fiber Stools by Muuto are tucked under the counter.

The expanded kitchen has a large central island, with room for prep, seating, storage, and cooking. The cabinetry is a mix of wood, Shinnoki Milk Oak, and white fronts, Fenix NTM Bianco Kos. The terrazzo counters are by Concrete Collaborative. There are two types of tiles: the Mutina Rombini fluted tile on the island and Cepac Krave Sugar Tiles on the backsplash. “It looks very mid-century modern,” says Blaine of the backsplash tile. “But in this application, it also adds that little touch of depth that I think is really important to making the house feel interesting.” The counter stools are from Hay.
