“Cynthia made sure the kitchen had enough storage space along with the proper appliances,” Dino notes. “She is a great cook, so the kitchen design was very important to her.”

The fireplace is covered in Norman brick from Mutual Materials, in an era-appropriate stacked pattern.

The custom walnut screen takes its geometric cue (at a 90-degree tilt) from the wide bricks used for the fireplace and kitchen island.

“We wanted to use natural materials in a neutral color palette,” Dino says of the sleek kitchen. “Adding the Smeg range lends that European element we were going for.” White oak cabinetry and a brushed, soft gray limestone create more layers of texture.

The owners of this updated Tudor-style abode in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock, Amanda and William Hunter, are the design duo behind the William Hunter Collective, which rehabs homes. Handmade tile, soapstone counters, walnut wood, and steel make up the artfully styled kitchen.

Passionate about recycling, a Belgium designer couple Michaël Verheyden and Saartje Vereecke upcycled a beautifully veined marble tabletop from Vereecke’s parents’ house as the backsplash for their kitchen, pairing it with metal countertops for a chic industrial look.

A day spa–like feel is achieved through an abundance of natural light that illuminates the warm interior palette of pinkish hues and honey-colored Tasmanian oak.

The kitchen is anchored by a deep window seat with views of the harbor. “My favorite place in the house is the built-in deep daybed off the kitchen, from where I like to look out onto the water with a book in hand,” says Fox. “Having the view of the water and getting cozy in that spot is perfect.”

The shared kids’ bath features a tile terrazzo floor, soaking tub, and Brodware taps. The clerestory window lets in northern light without compromising privacy.

Concrete stretches across the bathroom floor into the shower, where a floor-to-ceiling window frames the great outdoors. A simple palette of concrete, plywood, and keystone white mosaic tile gives the bathroom a clean look.

London architecture studio AMA remodeled this home in an old Edwardian building with bold Bauhaus colors, and transformed the kitchen into an audacious red and green space with glossy vermillion floors.
