Designed as an experiential retreated for the Henrybuilt team, founder and CEO Scott Hudson explains,  "We had the idea to stop doing showrooms and to start doing houses that our staff can travel to, and live in, and actually live with the product and learn by experiencing it how to improve it."

The family kitchen was purchased off of a showroom floor from the Italian company, Valcucine. It was completely modular in design so the architect could rearrange and assemble it to his liking.

The stone slab forms a display niche in the cabinetry, and syncs up with the materials used elsewhere in the house. The step up, and the flooring material change, designates the boundary between foyer and the rest of the home.

Custom oak storage sets the tone for the house, with the shoes stored behind the slatted door. A large window creates connection between the exterior landing and the interior foyer, as does the continuous slate flooring.

In her daughter’s room “She’s a Wildflower Wallpaper” from Lust Home joins a different color on every wall, all from Sherwin Williams, including “Blue Lapis,” “California Lilac,” “Spring Azalea,” and “Deep Carnation.” The ceiling light is from Sazerac Stitches.

“Blue is, I would say, my least favorite color in interior design because I feel like it's used the most,” says Marita. In the bathroom, she opted for Belarte Studio wallpaper, then painted the vanity Sherwin Williams “Danube.” The sconces are by Sazerac Stitches.

A large built-in pinewood cabinet in the living-and-bedroom area hides a horizontal Murphy bed, storage, and an electric meter. The architects maintained the concrete slab as the flooring for the room, layering it with a grey epoxy stain that offers a sleek sensibility.

A pantry is tucked inside the “Flatiron” sculpture, in part also inspired by 1950’s Italian furniture designed by Gio Ponti. Thanks to this treatment, there are now easy sight lines between the kitchen and living room.

A walnut slat wall creates a protected nook for an office, in what used to be dead space. The white built-ins around the television are designed to “fade into the background,” says Amornvivat, and the team utilized custom open and closed storage throughout. “We have to get the right mix between the two to make the project sing,” says Amornvivat.
