The single-family residence at 2010 Las Tunas Road in Santa Barbara, California, was built in 1957 by acclaimed local architect Peter Edwards.

“The open-concept first floor features two sitting areas, a fireplace, and a beautifully done kitchen with an island, concrete countertops, and gas range,” says the listing agent.

Ascending to the second level, large skylights funnel light into the space.

“Off the kitchen is the 1,000-square-foot great room with an oversize woodburning fireplace, original wide-plank floors, custom wainscoting milled from trees on the property, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the creek and waterfall,” says the listing agent.

Designer Tom Givone transformed a 19th-century homestead in Eldred, New York, into his peaceful weekend retreat, dubbed the Floating Farmhouse. During the renovation, Givone added a new wing to the original gabled structure, finished with a 22-foot-tall wall of glass.

In 1979, architect Gary Michael designed a roof structure that mirrors the form of the original house to cover a section of the large ipe deck.
