“The bedroom is in the southwest corner, where the home gets the most sun,” says Ada Corral, cofounder of Jobe Corral Architects. “It’s also the place where we wanted more of that sheltered, cozy feeling.” The architects incorporated furniture to separate the bedroom from the living area.

A walnut vanity is topped with a Silestone White Zeus quartz counter. The pendant lights framing the mirror are from Cedar & Moss and the wallpaper is from Heath Ceramics + Hygge & West. “We decided to add in some pops of color and pattern in the kids' bathroom with the bright tile, and then the master bathroom with that cool wallpaper,” says Foken.

The old tub was updated with new tile, including floor tile from Cle.

“The clients’ main priorities in their lives consisted of: their kids, their friends, their food,” says the firm. “We knew we had to knock down the wall that separated the kitchen from the living room to create one big, open space - this immediately created ease of flow.”

A Heath Ceramics tile backsplash in neutral tones offsets the custom walnut cabinetry.

An island with seating from Blu Dot is joined by a custom walnut table fabricated by SOBU. The paint color on the island, Pigeon by Farrow & Ball, syncs with the new poured concrete floors.

The new kitchen is also a galley layout, but has more room to spread out lengthwise.

The ceramics studio was formerly a pergola wrapped in chicken wire, used as a dog kennel by the previous owner. Inside the new structure, a vintage Danish chair, found on eBay, provides a modern perch. The windows’ deep mullions double as display shelves.

The standard laminate flooring inside the cabins can be upgraded to wood parquet. While a radiant heating is installed beneath the floor, air conditioning must be purchased as an add on.
