Lake Flato Architects extended the brick around the fireplace across the entire wall, then added a steel beam to be able to remove the columns and lift the ceiling height. Office of Tangible Space added a Sofa by De Sede, Rug by Beni Rugs, and chair by Shiro Kuramata for Cassina.

Relocating windows and doors meant the original brick needed to be patched and painted in a lighter terracotta tone. The sunroom—or “museum of natural history,” as the couple call it—showcases an array of objects, including a massive chair carved from a single tree trunk and a terra cotta elephant used as a side table.

Talavera Tile by Reeso tile in San Antonio covers the tub front and floor, and the window covering is a Pojagi-style curtain bought off Etsy.
