Luxury appliance brand Dacor has explored the question of kitchen design through a concept kitchen that illustrates the principles that underpin successful contemporary design. “The inspiration for this space originated with the desire to create an open concept design with an overall natural feel,” explains Maddalena Nicolosi, Senior Kitchen Design & Innovation Manager at Dacor. The Dacor dishwasher seamlessly disappears into the walnut joinery, maintaining a unified look while still providing a powerhouse in features and performance.

The bed has a Gregory Parkinson quilt, paired with a vintage Tomado wall rack and Juniper wall hooks from Etsy.

The couple raised the ceiling height in the main room of the bathroom, then lowered it in the shower to create a "jewel box

Emily designed the floating vanity and had it painted in Benjamin Moore 'Baked Terra Cotta,' with a Duravit sink top.

The white oak bench seating wraps a vintage wood table found on Offer Up. The custom cushions are by Legacy Custom Upholstery in Perennials 'Raffia' fabric in Geranium Red. The wall light is the Schoolhouse 'Gantry Pivot Sconce.'

The renovated kitchen features limestone countertops, vertically oriented white Bedrosians Makoto porcelain tile, with custom ash cabinetry, maple floors, and Muuto barstools.

The new main bath includes Material ash cabinetry, limestone counters, a Brizo Litze faucet, CB2 mirror and Clé cement tile.

The renovated basement includes understair cabinetry designed by Allison and built/installed by Terrien Designs. The CB2 table is paired with Ton Salt chairs. The wall print is by David Shrigley.

The breakfast nook features a custom table with a terrazzo top from Concrete Collaborative, and the pendant above is by Kuzco. A wall hanging from Caralarga commands the entryway.

Backdrop’s After Hours, a soft charcoal hue, gives Carlos Naude and Whitney Brown’s home in Woodland Hills, California, sleek curb appeal. Lund Sconces by Kuzco Lighting punctuate the exterior, and the streamlined garage doors are by Amarr.

The vanity has a custom concrete basin by Newbold Stone Architectural Concrete and steel base from Metal Works Austin. The wall tile is Fireclay glazed thin brick in Olympic color.

The round window brings in a bit of daylight into the breakfast nook—all the better to illuminate the rich tones of the wallpaper from Little Greene. “The wallpaper was an opportunity for us to nod to the earthy elements of the palette,” says designer Greer Shively.

The custom banquette has a slatted back so as to allow the window behind it to open and let in light. The table is a vintage piece from John and Kelly, made with reclaimed wood from a bowling alley. The overhead pendant is by Brendan Ravenhill.

The hot tub is a highlight of the home. “It was worth the investment,” says Kara. “Especially late at night when you can see the stars.”
