The steel roofing is from Hamilton in Southern Ontario. The doors were reclaimed from a local hotel. The windows are from a Mississauga company. The trim and cabinetry is milled from oak trees that they cut down to build the driveway. “It’s as local as it gets,” says Liz.

In the kitchen, which connects to the internal patio and rear garden, the wooden ceiling beams are painted a pistachio green that’s repeated throughout the home, including on the radiators and the iron trim of the glass doors to the courtyard.

The refrigerator and extra storage are assigned to the adjacent pantry. White oak cabinets from Thompson Woodworking join a honed Carrara marble counter and backsplash tile from Pratt and Larson in color C35. The stove is the GE Café series in matte white with brass details.

In the private section behind the wood partition, the bedroom and bathroom are merged. The bed, bathtub, and sink become loose elements within the room, while a shower, walk-in-closet, and toilet are placed at the core.
