Every space, including the living and dining sections seen here, has “furniture, objects and artworks that bring us memories,” says Smud. The bench, coffee tables, and dining table are by the late Alejandro Sticotti.

One of the couple’s favorite new details is the built-in, L-shaped bookcase in the den.

Painting the walls Benjamin Moore's Gentleman's Gray went a long way to elevate the den, which doubles as an office for Noah. Interior designer Allyson Campbell completed the space with a Roche Bobois sofa, a lounge chair by Ferm Living and pillows covered in a Garza Maria stripe (on sofa) and fabric by Pierre Frey (on the built-ins flanking the fireplace).

In the primary bathroom, the floor and wall tile is Quartziti Glacier by Satements. The Bola Sphere Suspension Lamp is by Pablo Designs.

The custom wood screens bring privacy while still allowing the window light to spread. The stairway leads to downstairs bedrooms. The Akari 23A Pendant is by Noguchi. The artwork is by Jon Gottshall.

The Ikea cabinet doors have pulls by Schoolhouse, and are paired with custom shelving by Al Stone. The backsplash tile is Zenia Solar Fielde Matte by Bedrosians. The pottery is by the Los Angeles studio Kat and Roger.

A clerestory window lets sunlight into the primary bath without compromising privacy. The water closet and pivoting shower doors are fabricated from frosted glass. Large format porcelain slab walls mitigates the need for distracting grout lines.

Now, a walk-in shower and soaking tub are tucked under the roof line.

The design team added a skylight to the shower room, which has a ribbed glass partition and wall tile from Solistone.

White oak cabinetry and concrete countertops by Béton Johnstone make for a sleek, streamlined kitchen design.

A simple, hardscaped back patio is the site of many summer parties. The steps lead down to the firepit, where one feels increasingly embraced by the forest.

Julie and Malcom arranged an Ikea corduroy-wrapped sofa, a table lamp from Schoolhouse, and a vintage coffee table in the living room, where there's a vintage Kent wood-burning stove.

Crisscrossing steel cables give the apartments’ vaulted ceilings extra structural support as well as aesthetic interest.

San Francisco–based Michael Hennessey Architecture paid homage to Eichler's affinity for open spaces by reconfiguring the living area on the upper floor and moving the kitchen to organically connect the rooms.

In the upstairs living area, a NeoWall sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani faces an Ole Wanscher lounge chair and an Anya coffee table from Anthropologie.
