Floor-to-ceiling glazing and a linear skylight help welcome the landscape within the cabin’s small footprint.

The architects added a cork wall behind the bed for a layer of warmth within the space.

A new addition at the back of the house allows for an expanded kitchen and outdoor patio, and a carport below. "We cut holes in each of the floors to create this new central atrium space, which helps bring light and fresh air into the house,

In the entry, a custom rug and stair runner fabricated by the Rug Company soften the space. The marble console is by Joris Poggioli and the green mirror is by Zieta.

A plated burnished brass pot rack from Hayneedle hangs above the Verona range. Resting on the countertop is a knife block from Horne.

In a loft renovated by designer Andrea Michaelson, a Liebherr refrigerator blends in with stainless-steel cabinets from Fagor. Flow chairs by Henry Hall Designs and CB2 benches pull up to an antique farm table.

The renovation updated a pair of staircases—one to the basement, one to the upper level—from their steep, unsafe angle to one that is now up to code. In the dining room, the pendant by Hans-Agne Jakobsson is from Karoline’s family cabin in Germany.
