The stone slab forms a display niche in the cabinetry, and syncs up with the materials used elsewhere in the house. The step up, and the flooring material change, designates the boundary between foyer and the rest of the home.

The living room features a Yucca Stuff coffee table as well as a sofa designed by Austin interior designer Ann Edgerton and built by Tyson Pendergrass.

The wall holding the fireplace separates the kitchen from the living room (featuring pup Major). "It's nice to have some separation," says Weber. "In small-space design, you get more for your money by having different experiences, not just one room."

Engineered for energy efficiency, the Koto cabins are equipped with high-performance insulation and cane be fitted with renewable energy systems such as solar panels and biomass stoves.

The bathrooms can be equipped with a large free-standing bath or shower/wet room.

Each bedroom comfortably fits a king-sized bed.

At the rear of Long Point Getaway, the back windows span 25 feet, opening up the home to waterfront views.

The kitchen, kept in the same location, was opened up dramatically. Gray cabinets from IKEA are topped with honed granite countertops; an oil painting of the original cottage sits on one of the floating shelves.

The main goal for the living room was to double the size. "The clients talked about it being the space where everyone congregated, where the adults could have conversations and kids could play without being on top of one another," says Fong. The tranquil hub is connected to the kitchen and dining room and visually separated via a three-sided fireplace.

"When you are in the dining room, you have these amazing panoramic landscape views," Fong says. "The furniture is simple, which lets the landscape be the focal point."

The family loves enjoying cocktail hour on the patio, which provides extra outdoor space and capture the Western sun.
