The peaceful white walls of the bedroom juxtapose vibrant colors up top on the wall shelves. The poster is from Gustav Westman and the headboard is from Urban Outfitters.

Mikei calls this space the "reading nook," which is complete with six stainless steel shelves from Kiosk48th filled with colorful accessories from Bi-Rite, HAY, MoMA, and DWR. The vintage chairs sit over a rug from Mush Studios.

Designed by Hamish McIntyre and renovated by Russell Hollingsworth, the carefully preserved home has three patios, two decks, and sea vistas in nearly every room.

Smaller square tile in matte white from Home Depot references what was there before, and the oak and quartz vanity echoes the kitchen cabinet treatment.

One of Amber’s favorite features in in the house is the splash of color in the kitchen backsplash, via a tile called 'Unfading' green slate from Vermont Structural Slate Company.

This painting was just intended to be a placeholder in the mock up, but the homeowners loved it so much they commissioned an identical one.

Since Forbes preferred a matte finish, the Absolute Black Granite slab was installed upside down for the kitchen counters.

In an experimental move, the designers used different upholstery for the sectional. Colorful stripes and baby blue complement the cool gray tones.

The original layout was very much of the time: a perfect midcentury modern flow, with a closed-off kitchen and a fire put in the floor. “They were cool but impractical spaces,” says Schaer.

A small home office, also overlooking the pool and patio, was built just beyond the kitchen, with the same Villa Lagoon concrete tile flooring. The custom desk is paired with a vintage Kartell red Chair and a Ferm Living Ark dining chair.

This added bathroom, just off the pool deck, was designed to be resilient to water, with Heath Ceramic tiles cladding both the walls and floors. The California Faucet fixtures come directly out of the wall, above a Duravit sink, next to a Pottery Barn Windsor mirror and Quiet Town curtains.
