A stone fireplace sits below the tongue-and-groove California Cedar ceiling.

The artist's studio was designed by Thaddeus Longstreth, a longtime associate of Neutra's, a little over a decade after the home's initial construction.

Inspired by her upbringing in routine and her newfound love for Joshua Tree, Anastasiya Dudik designed the Hata dome—a 1,700-square-foot creative retreat in Pioneertown.

“The dome is very acoustic,” says Dudik. “Artists can stay there, be really close to Pappis, and have this creative retreat that overlooks the Sawtooth Mountains.”

The primary material is concrete, creating an otherworldly, monolithic dome amidst the desert landscape.

The conversation pit was another idea central to Dudik’s early dream. It’s complemented by a semi-circle window and a skylight for views of the mountains and the stars.

For the interior, Dudik used African mahogany and stainless steel to complement the concrete structure and the surrounding landscape.

At night, LED lights accentuate the porthole windows and openings throughout the dome.

Nearly all of the furniture pieces in the dome are custom.

The dome includes 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Strategic windows throughout the dome maintain a deep connection to the landscape.

One of the two bathrooms contains a shower and a soaking tub.
