Oak lines the interior for a tactile surprise, and the marble counter echoes the marble on the island and perimeter counters.

A wall of windows anchors the living room, providing captivating views of the lush surroundings. Original cabinetry wraps underneath the windows, leading to a built-in couch along the opposite side.

Custom millwork now stores toys and books, and becomes a media console in front of the couch. The designers also added a daybed below the windows.

The podcast room includes the Alto Compass chandelier from Cedar & Moss.

LINDEN CHANDELIER Conceived of by designer Charles de Lisle for The Future Perfect, the Linden Chandelier takes its inspiration from a just-cut flowering bough. The organic form—crafted entirely from solid brass—gracefully suspends from its ceiling mount, adding drama and elegance to a poetically modern design.

“This house has so many fireplaces,” laughs Bader. Two gas and one wood-burning fireplaces were sourced from Fireplace Stop.

The white oak hardwood staircase between the main and second floor were installed by RK Woodworking. A plywood, MDF-finished guardrail is painted white to match the walls; the handrail features an integrated LED strip light.

The kitchen grew by about a third, and is covered in terrazzo floor tile from Concrete Collaborative. The cabinets are Ultracraft in Rift Cut White Oak, topped with Caesarstone Quartz in Fresh Concrete. The pendant lights are from Ferm Living and are the Brass Low Socket with Tall Opal Shade.

“The contractors did an amazing job restoring the old details, removing several layers of paint that was added over time, so they could be repainted in the best way,” says Ménage.

Ménage balanced the historic ornament with modern interventions, like the rebuilt wood staircase and glass handrail.

SHED embraced the angled corners with custom cabinetry. According to Hale, the inspiration images that the couple chose were “less American Midwest farmhouse, and more contemporary Scandinavian farmhouse,” which inspired the design team to consult Scandinavian farm layouts for the master plan.

Re-energized finishes combine with modern touches to redefine the feel of this charming Victorian house.

The kitchen in the Winchester Residence features plywood cabinets with white Fenix cladding. RobitailleCurtis moved the rear service stair forward into the kitchen to allow a new stair to the basement to be concealed beneath it.

The home's contemporary profile shows a sensitivity to the adjacent established homes, many of which sport Victorian-style roofs.

Dark hardwood lines the floors on both levels of the 6,200-square-foot dwelling. An open library and loft accentuate the home's large main foyer.
