The design team “poked fun” at the homeowner for her unusual request, but they’ve since recommended bathroom refrigerators to other clients.

The cantilevered addition was kept, and another bedroom added to the second floor over the existing house. Parks collaborated with Fort Structures to ensure that the third addition would sync with the rest of the house, replicating the window placement to make them sit between the roof beams, while still meeting current code and insulating the ceiling.

The metalwork in this Melbourne home was a splurge at $29K, but the owners say the way it brings the house to life was worth the investment.

A solid oak barn door and limestone floors in the utility room continue the material language of the main living spaces.

The kitchen is ideal for casual family meals and entertaining, with a kitchen island that doubles as a breakfast bar. The metallic base of the stools elevates the golden hue of the timber cabinetry, while the patterned blue and white upholstery visually draws the eye to the blue of the pool and wall outside.

Before: The low-slung home was nondescript, with the low roof line making it difficult for the interior to enjoy any expansive views.

On the main wall, Lin hung a photograph by Matthew Johnson; under the stairs, a small table by Phaedo. A custom chandelier by In Common With hangs overhead and a side table by Grain Design was added to the first landing.
