After climbing up a dramatic elliptical staircase, guests entered the first room of the tour, The Foyer, curated by Simone Haag. Of the entire exhibition, the pieces shown here seemed to be the most radical, and their contrast against the Italianate setting was superb. The floor lamp was my favorite piece.

I also thought the shelving unit/bench was a smart addition to the brand’s offerings. In person, it looks sharp and versatile.

Another standout was the three-seat sofa, shown here in Alhamn beige. The fabric and construction both felt great, while the clean lines were in nice balance with the industrial setting.

We nearly missed Ready to Hang’s booth at the very end of our tour and I’m so glad we didn’t. The New York-based studio creates beautiful collectible mirrors. The yellow cloth in their booth made for a sunny and warm presentation that highlighted the various shapes of each unique piece. It was a lovely place to end the day.

French studio Warm Weekend’s 18 Drops of Sweat, is an absorbing piece that feels strangely in place in the factory—as though an aspect of the original architecture. Presented in collaboration with Mathias Palazzi, Robinson Guillermet, and Galerie Boketto, the elevated structure was first designed as a hammam and has also served as a showering station for young refugee men.

3D-printed chairs, along with a literal 3D printer in action, take center stage at Decibel’s presentation in the factory. This was an absolute hit for me and felt like a moment right out of Bladerunner. Each colorful model is placed on a large pedestal, soundtracked to the sounds of the robotic arm to its left.

Spread, a group founded by Haruna Yamada and Hirokasu Kobayashi, occupies their space in the factory with a lively installation of coated Steel plates in various colors. The piece is meant to embody peace, love, and joy, and it brings delightful energy to a room currently sprinkled with graffiti.

A sliver of mirror cleverly conceals the gap between the existing marble slabs and the new, more contemporary architraves. Golden yellow grout gives new life to the marble slabs, and brings out the gold veining—which was the catalyst for the entire color scheme.

Wrapped with an acrylic mirror, the addition essentially disappears into the surrounding greenery. A deep, round, porthole-like window looks out on a small pond that also reflects the garden.
