A built-in desk and shelving unit crafted in oak make the study a serene place for Dan to work from home. “The joinery is what links the geometry of the mansard and the curved walls,” says architect Oliver Cooke. “It makes the space feel sculpted rather than fitted in.”

A short flight of stairs connects the study and the primary bedroom suite, with a palette of natural oak and white walls visually connecting the two spaces.

The stairs from the first floor lead directly into the new study, which opens out to a generous roof terrace.

The loft extension is arranged over two levels, with the form housing the study and terrace, and the upper front section the primary bedroom and en suite.

The new millwork tucks neatly into the existing niche of the living room, and the couch base was designed around the dimensions of a single bed mattress.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing and a linear skylight help welcome the landscape within the cabin’s small footprint.

Retaining original features like the staircase and terra-cotta tiles has given the refreshed home a sense of age, says Angela. "It's a nice, grounded feeling.

The living zones have been painted in Farrow & Ball’s Duck Pond green hue. The framed art work hanging over the yellow Loaf sofa is a print of David Hockney’s Montcalm Interior at 7 O'clock painting from a 1988 exhibition.

The kitchen features custom-lacquered cabinets with white oak handles and, in lieu of upper cabinets, a wall niche to display dishes.
