Adam Levy sits in the kitchen of his rented midtown apartment. Rodriguez furnished the apartment with a mixture of vintage pieces, like Adam’s dining chairs, with newer pieces, like the plant stand from West Elm.

The false fireplace in Adam’s living room was constructed by carpenter Trevor Miles, then wrapped in travertine-style wallpaper from Belarte.

At 700 square feet, Adam’s midtown apartment includes a cozy living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and an outdoor terrace.

“I travel a ton for work, and I make a point to pick something up in most of the countries and cities that I visit,” Adam says. “My style blends a sort of minimalism with my love for unique pieces.”

“Krysta and I are cut from the same cloth,” Adam says, “We never shy away from hard work.”

“The bedroom is without a doubt my happy place,” Adam says.

When it comes to home office design, IKEA is a great place to look for functional pieces like desks and lamps. Find items similar to this simple yet modern, handmade desk that rests in an alcove the homeowners have made into a small home office.

The cabin’s kitchen includes a gas oven/stove combination and a hidden pull-out table, measuring 23 inches wide by 27 inches long. Solid wood countertops and drawer pulls from CB2 and IKEA completed the look. The living room area includes a brass and leather firewood tray from Ferm Living and ceramic pieces made by Eugenia, including coffee mugs and an incense holder.

Now, the view from the front door is into the dining area. Note the angled shelf at the entry, a geometric detail which will be a reoccurring motif throughout.

A kitchen is kept light and bright with white cabinets with dark hardware, white countertops, and a geometric patterned backsplash in a range of whites, creams, and beiges from Dwell patterns Heath tile backsplash.

Cornflower blue hexagonal tiles form the backsplash in this blue kitchen, where the tiles continue onto the countertop (often a great way to save on your budget), which is edged in copper. The blue cabinets are a solid color in contrast to the variegated tones of the tiles.

A dramatic black-painted wall is a backdrop for the home office. The renovation has compelled the couple to move into the home full-time and rent their Seattle townhome.

The downstairs bathroom was also dramatically redone for a total of $18,121.

Crawford taught himself how to reface the brick fireplace façade, using a creamy-colored, thin set brick. “It was his first time using a tile saw or laying brick, but his meticulous precision paid off,” says Devlin.

The custom walnut vanity from Northcoast Modern is topped with quartz. A new window brings in more light and a view of the river and trees.

The bathroom tiles, a porcelain printed to look like terrazzo, are from Home Hardware. The oversized format gives the design heft, and Nicole had the contractors mix a custom grout color to make the transition between tiles feel seamless. The floors are heated—a surprisingly small investment at around $250.

The exterior is still clad in the original boards — Mitanidis guesses they’re either cedar or larch.
