Each volume—a workshop, one for the primary suite, another for the living space, and a screened porch—is 12 feet wide, a limitation set by the site and by what was possible to bring over by boat.

“I wanted you to come into a place that was inviting, but with a muted warmth,” says Kara of the decision to immerse the dining room in Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke, including walls, ceiling, cabinetry, and fireplace, the latter with a relocated mantel. The table is a 17th C. Spanish Walnut Trestle Rectangular Dining Table via Restoration Hardware, surrounded by Ceremonie Green Mohair dining chairs by Athena Calderone, from Crate&Barrel. The Tambor Buffet, beneath windows that Seamus relocated from elsewhere in the house, is from Anthropologie.

Seamus rebuilt the front porch to be more historically accurate, and the couple painted everything in Pink Ground by Farrow & Ball, except the porch ceiling, which has Little Boy Blue by Sherwin Williams.

The home is built into its grassy-dune landscape (icluding a day-lit lower level) yet still appears to float over its terrain.

Kabn now has two prefabs along Loche Fyne. Designed to best suit their sites, both are slightly different. Pictured here, Kabn 1 was oriented so that the floor-to-ceiling glazing on the short side frames the shore.

The A-frame was tall enough for a queen-bed sized sleeping nook to be placed on a platform above the second-story bedroom and bath. “The loft was the perfect place to introduce more playfulness,” Pedraza says of the layout. “We want guests to have that summer break feeling you get when you’re up past your bedtime, eating popcorn and watching a movie.”

Lake|Flato designed a weekend home on North Fork, Long Island that nods to the rustic agricultural structures dotting the region. Western red cedar siding is stained black to help the home's three structures recede into the landscape.
