The bathroom is clad in terra-cotta tile, echoing the kitchen.

The primary bath features a large clawfoot tub and offers direct outdoor access.

For the bathroom, local studio Dusty Whipple Designs created a custom concrete sink. It sits within waterproof tadelakt plaster walls that run into the shower and around the room.

The adjoining bathroom gets indirect daylight via openings in the brick wall and a transom window.

The adjacent bathroom was plastered to maintain the minimalist palette, and provide soothing contrast with the wood detailing everywhere else.

The upstairs bathroom features a shower nook with a skylight. “You can look out and see palm trees,” Kuo says.

A custom concrete planter is now home to a 70-year-old olive tree. The couple reconfigured the front porch to allow for a straight path between the front door and the driveway for better circulation.

The approximately .20-acre lot also offers a grassy area at the back, as well as an additional outdoor dining area.

The paved courtyard is nearly 1,000 square feet, complete with archways and an adobe brick wall that encloses the rear of the space.

Bespoke inbuilt solutions, such as the cut-out cabinetry knobs, enhance the minimalist flair.

Full-height windows in the sauna, give the space a indoor-outdoor feel and a stunning view.

"Around the time we were thinking of moving back [to San Francisco], I took a trip to Marfa, Texas, and fell in love with the agelessness of Donald Judd’s work," says Amy. "I liked the idea of having a classic American reference to the space, since we are influenced as much from America as we are by Asian culture."
