The existing Ikea cabinet boxes received new Semihandmade fronts: the DIY Flat Slab painted Benjamin Moore's “Revere Pewter.” The butcher block was replaced with a Ceaserstone Empira White slab, and the wood shelves were preserved, though received new brass brackets. The brass hardware is from Rejuvenation and the pendant is the Pirlo from Tech Lighting. The new zellige tile is from Riad, in the Natural White color.

Designed to be scalable, Haar envisions Löyly being used for pop-up events, festivals, and urban planning projects.

Löyly's middle-of-the-lake local makes après sauna dips incredibly easy.

The entire sauna was assembled in only 6 hours, a process which took place both on land and in the lake.

Löyly's entrance is a sliding door inspired by Japanese shoji.

Locally sourced Swiss Douglas Fir beams were chosen because they are both lightweight and durable, then finished with teak oil for a neutral, unstained look.

The roofis made from galvanized corrugated steel, and the windows are made of transparent polycarbonate panels.

Löyly can be reached by swimming out to the floating pontoon deck which have been fitted with hollow barrels for buoyancy, allowing the sauna to float.

Set in the middle of Lake Geneva, Löyly, which is the Finnish word for the hot steam that rises from the sauna's stove after water has been thrown on top, is a sauna with a view.

Charred and clear-stained cypress wrap a weekend retreat designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects in Rogers, Arkansas. The home sits in a dense forest 85 feet above Beaver Lake.

“We wanted to get as close to the edge as we could without doing crazy gymnastics,” says architect Marlon Blackwell.

Owners Leah and Dan Curry and their son enjoy the semi-enclosed porch that looks out onto the hillside. The floor-to-ceiling windows are by Ozark Mountain Glass and Razorback Ironworks. The fireplace surround is also by Razorback Ironworks.

A black bent steel plate stair leads up three steps to a notched entry paneled in clear-stained cypress.

The windows in the living area provide views out to the treetops. A rattan loveseat from Golden & Pine softens one corner of the space.
