This home's different roof heights required a customizable, flexible building component to make the drawings a reality.

Located in Hobart, Tasmania, Taroona House is a 2,600-square-foot residence built using a timber prefab building system developed by architecture firm Archier.
Situated between two hills in the Napa Valley, this residence was designed by Signum to be constructed from eleven modules prefabricated by Method Homes.
Method Homes collaborated with atelierjones to rebuild three homes that were destroyed by the 2021 Dixie Fire in Northern California.
Separated from the main home by an outdoor deck, the third space contains the art studio.
The main house consists of two “branches” stacked at a right angle.
Conceptually the design is comprised of three rectangular forms assembled like fallen tree trunks.
Segmenting the home allows it to expand and contract depending on the number and needs of its occupants, who use it as a vacation residence.
The glass walls help meet the clients goal of feeling immersed in nature. It was also a realistic choice due to the area’s lack of sun, however that meant solar panels also weren’t feasible.
The home primarily leverages timber rather than steel through the use of the Candour components, creating a more sustainable outcome.
