Wallpaper and floral patterns liven up another bedroom.

The media loft features soft goods made locally by The Oriole Mill, Sew Co., and Echo View Mill. The iron work for the lofts and the side porch railings was done by Iron Maiden Studios in Asheville.

The home also offers two additional bedrooms. Here, one of the rooms features a hanging flower arrangement by Andrea.

A sliding glass door opens the master suite to the balcony and the city landscape beyond.

Sconces by George Nelson for Herman Miller flank Jessy and Steve’s bed. The painting was a wedding gift.

"We wanted to help many people to understand that an option like this [exists], that people could consider it when building a second home, or primary residence, or even a home for retirement," says Claire.

This clean-lined home designed by Lim + Lu makes use of materials like rattan, oak, and volcanic slate to create an island vibe.

A custom channel-tufted headboard is offset by floating nightstands and a painterly wallpaper by Porter Teleo.

The navy and rust tones of the rug from The Citizenry help to balance the pink and green walls. "You need to bring in other tones as a breather," says Thomas. "It's like a squeeze of lime on top of food—it just punches it up a little bit." The corner chair is from Joybird, while the floor lamp is from Hudson Valley Lighting.

The cork wall and black-and-white accents, like the pendant light and Dolly Parton poster over the bed, offset the bright colors that dominate the space. The photo was a gift from Mamrie’s best friend, and the linen bedding is from The Citizenry and Elsie Home.

Master Bedroom

The second floor of the back house includes a guest suite and an office. The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace.

Isabella asked the Bidgood and Co team to install a hanging rack for her well-curated clothing collection, rather than a closet.

Primary Suite

Beneath the windows in the living room and the bedroom is the clever built-in radiator screen/storage system designed by Joshua Pulver and Mike. The bedroom dresser is vintage Russel Wright.

The house features Bayerwald sliding windows and highly insulated fixed glass; low-VOC paint from Benjamin Moore; and big overhangs to the south to shield summer sun and allow winter light. It was important to the family to integrate sustainable materials and strategies.

An unusual pairing of pink and deep green find a happy match in this renovated apartment, which was DIY’ed by the homeowner, comedian Mamrie Hart, and her friend Claire Thomas, a creative director. "I am used to painting," says Thomas, "but I was not emotionally prepared for the amount of trim in the bedroom." Cedarville, a pastel pink hue, and Green Bayou, both by Dunn-Edwards Paints, now cheer up the space.
