At just 80 square feet, The Kugelschiff is a renovated Airstream Bambi II that now serves as a tech entrepreneur’s tiny home and office. Edmonds + Lee Architects designed a desk set on pistons that converts to a bed, creating a smart home office idea for small spaces.

The home is nestled in a stand of cedar, pine, and Douglas fir trees. The family relocated a smaller cabin to make room for their new retreat, and they plan to convert the original structure into a game room for the kids.

Nestled into a grassy hillside, the cabins overlook ponds and oak, birch, and linden trees that grow on the property.

“People here use their verandas for everything, even sleeping,” says Pons. “It’s very similar to how people live on the southern Mediterranean coast.” The stools on both sides of the table were custom made.

Cornuelle, who’s from Hawaii, chose both older and contemporary Hawaiian art for the walls.

The architects widened the opening between the living room and dining room, then delineated it with brass accents. "Rather than try to match the existing historical moldings, we opted for minimal trim with brass inlays and a broad brass threshold marking the new opening," they said. The pendent lights are by Andrew Neyer.
