The house is composed of three simple forms: a concrete base, a cantilevered three sided glass box, and a simple rectangular form that stacks on top of the lower level.

With respect to the sloping meadow, the home is designed to coexist and therefore never breaks the ridgeline.

Four distinct structures make up the house. Their design echoes the shape of an older, gabled-roof building already on site. “We considered the neighboring construction quite interesting in terms of scale and layout,” de Carvalho says. “Due to the proximity, we felt the necessity to integrate it in the design.”

The house has two modules: a living space on the left and a utilities, laundry, and outdoor kitchen on the right.

“The house is a piece of origami made out of triangular shapes, which we then draped over the landscape,” says Arbel.
