In the aromatic garden of this home in Amatepec, Mexico, an old jacaranda tree’s outstretched branches cast dynamic shadows on the ceramic exterior, creating a dialogue between the residence and nature. “The project reflects a combination of overlapping volumes,” says Manuel Cervantes Estudio, “creating an enclosure that opens to the outside.”

Enforced by the courtyard, the home encourages “a coexistence with the different green areas” and exterior social spaces, says the firm. The ground-floor living room and dining room look out onto the central garden, and the kitchen and study are connected by a corridor that is also articulated by greenery. On the upper floor, the family room and bedrooms offer views of the jacaranda tree, garden, and nearby ravine, further accentuating the residence’s relationship with its verdant surroundings.
