Through openings from the front to the rear of the house allow breeze and light to pass through easily.

At the front of the house on the first storey is the common study area, which is buffered from glare with screened sliding panels.

The house's simple palette gives it a streamlined and pleasant effect.

Knight laid out the landscape plantings around the duplex, which he delineated with Hardie board and wood siding, both painted in Benjamin Moore’s Burnt Sienna. He also built the low front fence out of rough-sawn cedar.

Glass walls bookend the kitchen/living area on the entry level, connecting the space to a patio and terrace.

The kitchen is now in the front of the house and features Ikea cabinets with flat plywood fronts, made by Plykea. The circular indents on the face of each function as a handle or drawer pull.

The custom-made wooden dining table is surrounded by a set of Claudia chairs by Aristeu Pires.

The three-story home was built on a slope, which means the backyard garden is on the second floor. Behind the dark-red gate, to the left, is a set of stairs leading to the main entrance.

The team replaced the rot-damaged shed with a new shed in the existing footprint.

The atelier is the most traditional "work" space of the home.

A custom storage cabinet holds dishware for team meals. The first floor is a functional office day-to-day, but Wedge also likes to lend it out for community events like book launches, workshops and pop-ups.

“I think we underestimate the power of having lunch together and how that helps us communicate and bond as a team,” says Di Domenico, whose colleagues gather around the 12-foot dining table to share meals. Hay's Rey chairs line the custom-stained table, made by Jussaume.

The paved side yard with a translucent roof sheet acts as a landing pad for the family’s ride-on toys, while a slatted frame keeps the space from seeming too cluttered.

Sited on a 12-acre lot, the structure peaks at 25 feet at its tallest points, providing spatial balance to its compact, 530-square-foot footprint. Large windows, a skylight, and a discrete chimney were all factors that contributed to its faceted form, which project architect Jack Ryan describes as a “carved gemstone.”
