Before: After living in Austin for over a decade, Ann and Ben Edgerton chose to move to the hill country during the pandemic, eventually purchasing this 1983 ranch outside Fredericksburg, Texas on two acres.

The walls are covered in waterproof plaster.

The faucets are made in Morocco, and bought from Etsy. The vanity counter is concrete.

Before: The bathroom finishes were gutted.

The Orion Side Table are by Muhly. The wall color throughout is Mascarpone, by Benjamin Moore.

The vintage IKEA chaise bought at antique store Joint Detail, is a favorite spot to read in the morning. The vintage rug is from Round Top, and the bed from Design Within Reach.

Before: The couple replaced the flooring and fixed the ceiling line in this room.

The hood vent is finished in plaster, same as the fireplace. Ann especially likes the view from the island, through the library to the fire at the end of the living room.

A Model 2026 pendant by Gino Sarfatti, purchased via rewire gallery in Los Angeles, hangs over the vintage table and woven chairs, all bought from Round Top Antiques Fair.

Before: The windows were kept, just given new window treatments.

The reading nook has a cushion made from a vintage rug Ann found in Morocco eight years ago, a Lin Sconce by Muhly, and a Bijou Mini Table by Muhly, which can also be used as a seat or plant holder, and moves around as needed.

Inspired by a vintage Swedish design book, Ann gave the fireplace an asymmetrical shape and plaster finish, and the interior was rebuilt. The wood coffee table is by Muhly, and the metal one a vintage piece that Ann found later on, purchasing because she got a kick out of the similarities between them. "It made me laugh,

Before: Ann and Ben liked how the stepped floor levels zoned the floorplan, but the chamfered ceiling in the living room and primary bedroom had to go. It was "a very eighties vibe,

Before: Ann decided to convert this eat-in area in the kitchen to a library, since the family loves to read.

The door is flanked by built-in bookcases for a cozy feel, combined with two chairs bought for $45 each from a local thrift store. Ann bought new slipcovers. The rug is from Etsy and the ceiling light is designed by Tobia Scarpa.

Oiled oak floors, plywood walls, and a vaulted ceiling provide a light, serene feeling on the interior.
