The couple opted for glass railings in order to open up views of the backyard pool and complement the structure’s overall aesthetic. “It certainly isn’t a typical home for Northwest Indiana, but it was built for us and we have no plans of moving,” Karen adds.

This lakeside home in Quebec boasts a white kitchen with an elegant, white marble backsplash that adds just a touch of pizzazz to an otherwise simple and minimalist open kitchen.

"Around the time we were thinking of moving back [to San Francisco], I took a trip to Marfa, Texas, and fell in love with the agelessness of Donald Judd’s work," says Amy. "I liked the idea of having a classic American reference to the space, since we are influenced as much from America as we are by Asian culture."

Samuel chose a 36-inch, matte white Cafe Appliance range oven to match the rest of the white-on-white design.

They opened up the perimeter of the home, so there is circulation around the central stair. A new passageway circles back to the entry, connecting to a small study and the powder room.

Brit painted the dark grout lines of the tile backsplash to soften the overall look. The couple also encased the range hood with closet dowels, with the materials for that project totaling $124.

Lastly, a rooftop deck flanks an open-air studio. Designed to mimic the post-and-beam style, the unique workshop features accordion doors on one side and a custom-built, bi-fold garage door along another.
