The cantilevered addition was kept, and another bedroom added to the second floor over the existing house. Parks collaborated with Fort Structures to ensure that the third addition would sync with the rest of the house, replicating the window placement to make them sit between the roof beams, while still meeting current code and insulating the ceiling.

Picking up on shades of blue used elsewhere, a blue cement tile from Zia Tile brightens the primary bathroom. The shower is lined with tile from Daltile.

The kitchen now features a seating area featuring a Moooi Container table, Hay chairs and a banquette upholstered in a crimson fabric by Kvadrat. The pendant is by &Tradition.

Nigel Chouri and Crick King bought a tattered ’50s beach house for $911K and introduced water-resistant features, a Spanish-style plaza, and a dreamy garden ADU.

The couple completed their restoration in 2022. They repointed the original brick, which was in good shape.

Architect Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig envisioned the home slowly disappearing into its landscaped setting, amidst trees and folliage.

The home is entered from a small porch on the lower level, just to the right of a carport created by the steel-reinforced cantilevering form. The lower level is nestled into the hillside.

At one end of the house, the home's glass-ensconced great room extends over the hillside, anchored by a steel-reinforced concrete chimney.
