The kitchen and dining area are made to feel bright and airy with minimalist decor and walls painted Sherwin Williams Origami White. The lights hanging over the island are Allied Maker's Blobe pendants.

Concreteworks countertops, a Wolf range, Kallista sink, and Boffi faucet also fill the space.

It took six weeks to build the formwork for the poured-concrete walls that make up the first floor. Inthe kitchen the floors are raw European white oak, the countertops are Capolavoro granite with a leather finish by Antolini, and the natural oak cabinets are by Varenna.

“The client wanted an interior space where you could read the materiality of the building elements like understanding the ingredients in a recipe,” principal architect Elizabeth Webster explains. The extension features distinctly textured materials: an exposed timber ceiling, painted brick walls, and polished concrete floors. Warm lighting by Brinklicht unifies the space.

The vintage credenza once belonged to the architect’s grandmother, and the framed drawing on the right is by Graham’s mother, artist MJ Levy-Dickson.

Terrazzo flooring also runs throughout the interior.

A floating vanity saves space in the petite footprint. Cement tile covers the floor.

The kitchen countertops and backsplash are Carrara marble slabs, while the cabinetry is crafted from vertical-grain white oak, which adds warmth while contributing to the brightness of the interior palette.

A built-in cabinet of straight grain Douglas fir separate the sleeping area from the bathroom.

The oak cabinet in the living room was another secondhand find. “It had the exact measurements of the wall,” says Annemie. “We just needed to hang it.” The throw blanket is from La Femme Garniture while the pillows and pendants are custom.

The home’s charred-cedar rain screen facade blends in with the forested 15-acre site.

The warm and luxurious bathroom features a Toto washlet with water jets and a heated toilet seat. The large shower with timber floor slats faces a view of the garden.

The kid's bathroom on the second floor is lined with white penny tile and white square tiles in a running bond pattern. The wallpaper is from Juju papers.

“The materials are natural, durable, yet contrast in their relation to one another,” he says. "Ultimately, we wanted to balance the crispness of the architecture, like concrete, with the warmer edges of the wood."

In the lounge, a Theatre Two-Seater sofa joins two U-Turn Swivel Chairs, all from Design Within Reach. The rug is by Scott Group.

Caesarstone counters run along the bathroom walls.

Inside, Metropolitan armchairs by B&B Italia and Artek stools flank a Morsø stove. The Flor rug tiles are arranged in a custom pattern.
