A north-facing skylight above the kitchen maximizes heat absorption, helpful in the cool climate.

In the living/dining area, rough-sawn wood-plank screens cover a wall of windows. The removable panels keep the space cool in summer but are taken down the rest of the year so that the sun can heat the interior. The dining table is from Restoration Hardware and the wood chairs from Barnaby.

In 2018, the current owners commissioned Beebe Skidmore Architects to design a freestanding sauna and meditation room to integrate into the site. They also brought on board Coyote Gardens to create custom stone walkways.

Cork flooring by Expanko runs from the bathroom to the hallway, mirroring the tones of the cedar ceilings. Heath Ceramics tile clads the vanity wall.

In the dining room, which leads to the sunken courtyard out front, a Restoration Hardware table is surrounded by Hans Wegner chairs. Fireclay Tile lines the backsplash above the sideboard.

Duchateau engineered hardwood oak complements the kitchen’s warm wood cabinetry. A broad sliding door connects the space to the outdoor deck, which spills down to the backyard.

Green Heath tile, with their signature unevenness, provide a warm touch to the bathroom. A cutout in the glass allows the bather to dial in the right temperature on the Kohler fixture before stepping into the shower.
