Visiting a Manhattan apartment designed by Tim Seggerman is like sitting inside one of Nakashima’s cabinets, a metaphor realized most fully in an ingenious "library"—really a glorified cubby with a banded maple ceiling, conjured from a free space adjacent to the loft bed.

The mid-section of the siding was done in a shou-sugi ban method. Custom brass was used for the awning, alongside a standing-seam metal roof.

Perforated cabinet faces above the reading nook conceal an energy-efficient, mini-split heating and cooling system. Bleached and whitewashed maple lines the nook, while drawers below provide plenty of storage.
