The rear of the home had been complicated by many additions. Davis streamlined the space as one adjoining kitchen, living room, dining room, and lower sunroom.

Quartzite kitchen island countertops and a wall of off-white ceramic tile between the doorways complement the space's walnut cabinetry and brass surfaces.

Lee helped the couple source lighting, like the Nuura Anoli pendants above the kitchen island. “We're constantly having meals at home,” says Serena. “We get a CSA and I like to cook, so it's nice to have a lot of space in the kitchen, and have it be really functional for cooking and entertaining.”

The homeowner's collection of vintage furniture brings a timeless feel to the home.

The clients' teenage son was given a more colorful bedroom with an elevated bed and a small climbing wall.

A 1980s fan and horizontal blinds gave the primary bedroom a feeling of being stuck in time.

For the bathroom design, Ann was inspired by a visit to Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado years ago, where there was a tree indoors. Here, a staghorn fern hangs over the bathtub. Talavera Tile by Reeso tile in San Antonio covers the tub front and floor, and the window covering is a Pojagi-style curtain bought off Etsy.

The breakfast nook's custom bench includes cushioning covered with Maharam Fabric. Its oak base matches the floors.

In total, the home offers three-and-a-half bathrooms. Each of the guest bathrooms are finished in the brightly colored tile.

In the bathroom, a mottled Japanese tile from Academy Tiles brings texture and warmth. Plywood makes for an excellent material for shelving.

The custom walnut vanity from Northcoast Modern is topped with quartz. A new window brings in more light and a view of the river and trees.

Quarry Pavers from Seneca Tiles cover the bathroom. All of the fixtures are from Sigma, and they were originally chrome before Grey stripped and refinished them.

Yellow tiles add a fun pop of color in the bathroom.
