Gordon’s Creek, a brackish waterway that connects to the larger James River. While the home is sited on a waterfront lot, the property is not within the FEMA 100-year floodplain and thus, flood insurance is not mandatory.

Set on the parlor level of the home is a large and airy library, which can easily be converted into a fifth bedroom. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves (designed by Pei) stretch across one wall, while bespoke doors on the opposite side hide even more storage.

The forum is located in the heart of the home, where the workshop meets the couple's private living quarters, which they refer to as their retreat.
