The 'Bird Walk' at Taliesin seems to float into the surrounding Wisconsin landscape.

The Mirrabooka House by Bruce Rickard sits on a lush, five-acre plot in the community of Castle Hill, about 18 miles northwest of Sydney. The structure's design—which spreads broadly across the site—displays a horizontality reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work.

Reportedly one of the first homes built in the neighborhood, this recently listed post-and-beam dwelling is perched along a hillside lot in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. The 1962 structure was renovated in 2014 by the team at Tradecraft Real Estate Renovation.

For the first-floor powder room, Eric cut and arranged 2" x 2" end-grain squares of white oak. Tropics Blue Crackle Tiles from Heath clad the opposite wall, visible in the mirror. Brass plumbing from Graff’s Sento line and Kuzco add finishing touches.

There’s the option to rent out the top floor, but it also makes a great place for family visiting from Europe to stay.

Inspired by the fence from the Kaufmann House in Palm Springs, Greg and Kirsten chose local basalt for the new privacy wall.

Oak slats in the living room echo the timber slats that enclose the entry courtyard. The black-marble Empire side tables are by local furniture brand Seer Studio, and the white-marble Tulip table is by Eero Saarinen for Knoll.

In the living area, sofas and a chair by Piero Lissoni for Cassina join a floor lamp by Michele de Lucchi for Artemide.

Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames, Dirk Vander Kooij, and Verner Panton surround a table designed by Clive and crafted in South Africa by his father, Ken. Overhead is a custom brass pendant by Cole Lighting.

A sunken seating area in one corner of the living room features a built-in bench and shelving.
