"The wash nook in the hallway references the Japanese bathing tradition of having a bath and shower separate to the washbasin and toilet," explain the designers. The separation of spaces is also crucial in this home, which has three bedrooms.

The freestanding bath and shower are located in a "wet room" separate from the toilet, and are fitted with the same tiles found in the kitchen and dining area.

Fitted out in custom concrete bench tops are Voodoo by Colour Concrete Systems and custom shelving, the luxury kitchen was built with integrated appliances for a streamlined appearance.

The living area is furnished with a Moroso Smock armchair by Patricia Urquiola from Hub Furniture, a Grazia & Co Ivy Coffee Table, and a Sky Modular Sofa from Jardan.

“The tent-like shape resembles a mountain. When the snow falls, the triangle becomes embedded in the landscape,” Tham says.

All paints and oils used throughout the home have low VOCs, and there are rainwater storage tanks and a solar system outside.

The owners wanted a gabled roof, which can be seen at the front, and a cross-like layout allows them to maximize space, light, and views.

“Describing a feeling or way of living in our home was always important, as the color and texture palette was always chosen based on our natural surroundings,” says Teegan.

The box, lacquered in a deep green, works with warm golds and violets and brown tones found elsewhere in the apartment to play off the cool concrete ceiling and wall. Contrasting materials and colors and carefully crafted details make a home that is at once cool and cozy.

Conic Estudi transformed an industrial space into Vasto Gallery: a comfortable home in Poblenou, Barcelona, that doubles as an art gallery. The two programs are separated in the otherwise open plan by a service core detached from walls and ceiling. Full-height oak doors crafted from Madera timber lead into the powder room, mudroom, and home office. Their monumental format allows the hallway to read as a solid architectural form when they are closed. “I love that we were able to elevate this home with significant architectural intervention, but keep everything comfortable,” says interior designer Emily Lindberg.
