When creative director Patrick O’Neill bought Hailey House, a Richard Neutra home built in the Hollywood Hills in 1959, the steeply sloping backyard was “untamed and nondescript,” says the native Angeleno. With the help of landscape architect John Sharp, he transformed it into a terraced outdoor living and entertaining space comprising five distinct “rooms,” including the firepit area. Patrick and his dog, Burt, stand on the home’s balcony, which overlooks the yard.

The spaces are connected by stairs made of railroad ties. The railings are wood painted silver, a treatment often used by Neutra for window mullions. “He did it so they would be less visible,” says Patrick.

The dining area features a concrete-topped table and benches and concrete pavers lined with gravel. The oversize pendants are from Serena and Lily.

The kitchen now features a seating area featuring a Moooi Container table, Hay chairs and a banquette upholstered in a crimson fabric by Kvadrat. The pendant is by &Tradition.

Painting the walls Benjamin Moore's Gentleman's Gray went a long way to elevate the den, which doubles as an office for Noah. Interior designer Allyson Campbell completed the space with a Roche Bobois sofa, a lounge chair by Ferm Living and pillows covered in a Garza Maria stripe (on sofa) and fabric by Pierre Frey (on the built-ins flanking the fireplace).

Wang repositioned the entryway to create more space for the living room. It's highlighted by a skylight and planter box.

Wang and the owners were meticulous about the cabinetry. They hand-selected each piece of the oak veneer to line up perfectly across each front.

An Aria table from Room and Board creates a spot to gather. The countertop is Barbados honed marble from Walker Zanger, and it surrounds an LG induction cooktop.

"We couldn't put installation where we wanted to expose the joists, so we had to put it on the roof. That actually helped with waterproofing—the original roof was likely our biggest challenge,

The curve of the treatment room's walls add movement to the flow of the house.

A Diana king bed from CB2 anchors the primary suite. A West Elm sconce and Jovan Millay art hang on the wall.
