For lovers of a more classic look, the Logan 2 Panel is ideal: The clean lines and smooth finish, along with the simple rectangular and square panels, make it a versatile option that’s equally suited for a nursery as it is for an office space.

Previously, a screened porch at the front left had been enclosed for additional living space, but wasn’t very usable, so Jobe and Corral converted it back to its original purpose. Now, it serves as a mudroom and a transition space before entering the living room. The preserved board and batten siding is painted Benjamin Moore ‘Kendall Charcoal’ and the ceiling fans are from Schoolhouse. Board-formed concrete replaced the brick, and new steps are formed by limestone slabs taken from the tops of quarries so that the top surface is natural.

The shelving and bench in the dining room are more salvaged joists, combined with white oak cabinetry and a custom table designed by Kaplan.

Now, a picture window frames the views into the garden, and a tall glass and steel door accesses the backyard.

The social spaces are at the rear of the yard, including turf for the kids’ play and a cooking and dining area, all tucked behind a custom concrete planter. The raised beds, including on top of the fence, are for herbs, as the homeowners are avid cooks.

The picture window drops to the floor, so as to make the connection between inside and out more fluid. Kaplan divided the backyard into two sections, with the portion against the window imagined as a “quiet, Zen garden made of sedum,” says the architect.

The living area consists of plenty of layering with Saffron and Poe nesting teak tables and coffee table basket tray. Kitchen cabinetry is crafted from regional Douglas Fir, offering a welcoming balance of clean lines and textural warmth.
